When someone posts a photo on Pixel, their followers get a notification. Today the web server has the notification service send them while the upload waits — 60 uploads a second.

Watch how long each upload waits.

Each upload waits about 455 ms — 5 ms of the web server's own work and 450 ms of notifying. (In the sim the notifying is a fixed 450 ms.)
